Howes Dam & Buffalo Dam Dewatering

This project involved the emergency dewatering of two dams located on Hwy 34 east of Howes, SD. Excessive rains had fallen in the area filling the dams beyond their safe capacity. Along with this, the overflow pipes had failed on both Dams and the earthen dams were eroding fast, and being compromised to a point near failure.
We mobilized to the sites and set up a temporary dewatering system that allowed the water levels in the dams to be lowered to safe levels while the overflow pipes were repaired.
Work was completed in less than one week.
